South Manchester Men's Shed on Merseybank Estate, Chorlton , Manchester

South Manchester Men's Shed
 based at 38 Merseybank Parade, M21 7NN

We aim to develop the shop we now have for hands-on activities involving the local community but especially to encourage older men to meet, learn, share skills and have a good time

What is a Men’s Shed?

A Men’s Shed aims to provide a space (much bigger than an actual shed!) for mainly older men to meet, make stuff, learn new skills and do things together in premises equipped with a range of workshop tools. In our case our ‘shed’ is a shop at 38 Merseybank Parade, Chorlton, Manchester. Whilst we have kept the name ‘Men’s Shed’ we are open to all and we encourage both women and men to join

We now want to emphasise the community workshop nature of the shed that we have a sign on the shop window which says: "Community Workshop - come and learn a new skill"
Activities involve making or renovating wooden items, upholstery, metalworking, bike repair, gardening and electronics. Recycling and restoring feature strongly.

Supported by Southways Housing Trust we have set up as a charity and are up and running at 38 Merseybank Parade - open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am to 3pm. plus most Fridays too
We want to provide practical activities & community involvement for local people improve health and wellbeing; overcome isolation and hopefully become sustainable through fund raising and the sale to the community of items we restore and make

Everyone is welcome if they have a skill to offer, a project to pursue or want to find out more
